Most Businesses Still Unprepared for the EU AI Act
Research from the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) shows that entrepreneurs are taking hardly any measures to prepare for the upcoming European AI legislation.
Almost none have internal guidelines, risk assessments, or AI training programs in place, even though the AI Act imposes strict requirements on transparency, safety, and accountability.
The AI Act is not a paper tiger. Organizations that use AI, or supply products containing AI components, will face risk classifications, documentation duties, oversight, and yes, fines.
AI Literacy: A Legal Requirement
A key element of the AI Act is AI literacy. Employees must understand what AI is, how it works, and what legal and ethical risks are involved.
Organizations must also be able to demonstrate that they have invested in this knowledge.
This is where Data & Business Legal provides support, combining legal precision with a hands-on approach.
Examples include AI Act-aligned training programs that meet the new literacy requirements, such as those recently delivered at ONHN (Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Noord-Holland Noord).
Training can also be part of a broader compliance program under the Certified AI Compliance Officer (CAICO®) framework.
Act Now: Before Enforcement Begins
Investing now in awareness and policy prevents fines, delays, or reputational damage later.
